Scotland is full of nature and areas that have not been touched by building sites, roads, industrial buildings, etc. Not only are these areas quiet and less populated, but the air is fresher! It is important to get out of the cities for many reasons such as relieving stress and being able to appreciate the natural world that is often taken for granted. Visiting areas like these also may make you feel more inclined to protect it.

Scotland is home to over 9000 species as well as many rivers, woodlands and wetlands, but unfortunately, as the world continues to develop, these open, wild spaces are being threatened. This will result in habitat loss and could severely impact eco systems and our environment.

To truly be able to appreciate Scotland's abundant wildlife, you could visit any of these beaches, lochs and grasslands and rivers.

If you visit any of these areas, don't forget to leave them exactly how you found them.

North Berwick is only a 40 minute drive from Edinburgh and there are multiple beaches and open areas.
